Ice Driving

This video is from King5 TV in Seattle, showing their neighbours to the south in Portland having a bit of trouble with the weather we’ve had on this coast this winter. While we aren’t used to much snow or below freezing weather, I’m not sure what made each person in this video figure they could do what no one before them could manage!

Pool Filled with Non-Newtonian Fluid

Here’s an absolutely geeky video that I came across when reading about non-newtonian fluids. While it is a fluid, when stressed it exhibits the properties of a solid. What this means is that if you stand still, you will sink like you would in any other fluid, but if you move fast it will be solid under your feet.

This particular pool of fluid is a mixture of cornstarch and water.

You have to watch to get the entire effect.
